Urban Roost

A Chance To Grow!

Like many business owners, Christa Allen and Dana Pollock began their business with the idea of having more control over their work lives and time. They formulated the idea for Urban Roost in September of 2003 and opened the doors in May 2004. Christa and Dana saw a need locally for quality-handcrafted furniture. However, they wanted to go a step beyond and also offer interesting design and good prices.

"Our services provide harmony in the lives of our clients," said Christa Allen, co-owner.

By going the extra mile to make sure their clients are taken care of, Urban Roost has demonstrated that honesty and excellent customer service pays off. Their customers receive more than just a piece of furniture; they get furniture designed with their needs in mind. Due to the success of this business model they have opened a second business that offers interior design services for the commercial industry.

Urban Roost found the Tri-County EDC financial services through their association with the Small Business Development Corporation. Christa and Dana believe the support and personal services offered from Tri-County EDC were extremely helpful. Through this partnership, Urban Roost was able to expand their inventory while growing their furniture and design store. Incredibly they were also able to open a second venture together.

"Tri-County EDC helped us dramatically," said Christa. "They looked at our information, saw our businesses success and were able to work with us on the loan."

Christa feels their company would not have been the success it is today if not for Tri-County EDC. She believes what makes Tri-County EDC unique is their ability to give small businesses a chance to grow.

"Tri-County EDC helped us dramatically - They looked at our information, saw our businesses success and were able to work with us on the loan."
